It was planted here by the President of Sri Lanka. It is said that Buddhist gurus believe that Lord Buddha attained enlightenment under this tree in Bodhgaya. So Emperor Ashoka of India also went to Sri Lanka with a branch of this tree.

Medical checkup is done every 15 days

The tree is planted on a desolate spot on a hill near Sanchi Stupa. When this tree grows big, it can be seen for many kilometers. The health of this tree is also being taken care of. The government investigates it every 15 days. Necessary food and water have also been provided.

24 hour security

The government also tries not to break a single leaf of this tree. That is why 24 hours security is being provided here. This tree is protected by fencing all around. If even one leaf is broken, the government gets into trouble.
